Our Center is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for DeKalb and is accredited by the National Association of Emergency Dispatchers (NAED). DeKalb's Emergency 9-1-1 Center handles more than 1.3 million calls per year and currently provides services to all of unincorporated DeKalb County. Additionally, Emergency 9-1-1 call-taking and dispatch service is provided to Avondale Estates, Clarkston, Pine Lake, Lithonia and Stone Mountain.
It is with great pleasure that we announce Senior Operator Barbara Carstarphen has been named Operator of the Year by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials-International (APCO). We also take immense pride in our ability to report the 9-1-1 center is on average answering all incoming calls for emergency service in less than 00:10 seconds.
An inaugural graduation was held to honor new 9-1-1 team members that successfully completed their initial and post training certification. During the ceremony, others were acknowledged for notable milestones and accomplishments including a 20-year service award.
