DeKalb Geographic Information Systems Hosting GIS Day

DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department is hosting GIS Day on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Manuel Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur.

GIS Day is a global annual event that offers participants an opportunity to learn more about geographic information systems and the important contributions made in the fields of science, technology and  information.

GIS technology allows for the visualization, management and review of data that is spatially linked. Examples include census data, natural resource management, crime analysis, business analysis and asset management.

The event will showcase DeKalb’s online GIS apps, currently available at www.dekalbgis.maps.arcgis.com. Residents can also find floodplain information for their properties. This event is free and open to the public.For more information, contact DeKalb County GIS at (404) 371-2257.
