We are proud to share the many accomplishments of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs. The department works together with nationally recognize consultants, community, business and government leaders, as well as citizens of DeKalb County, to create signature parks and recreational facilities that will enhance the image of DeKalb County and its park system.We understand that parks are not only important to the quality of life, but they are also assets that increase DeKalb County's desirability as a place to live, work and play. Our department is divided into four collaborative divisions:  Administration, Recreation Services, Park Services and Cultural Affairs.  We all work together towards the vision and mission of "Creating and connecting communities through people, parks and programs.

 

 

DeKalb Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs joined the ranks of elite park and recreation agencies across the country by earning accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This distinguished accomplishment was awarded during the “2020 NRPA Annual Conference: A Virtual Experience.

The Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the citizens of Dekalb County by connecting communities to exceptional parks, recreational facilities, and cross-generational programs that promote healthy and active lifestyles.

Upcoming Programs and Events

The 35th Annual DeKalb County Senior Olympic Games will be held for ages 50 and older, May 6th – May 17th. The kickoff for the games will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 6th, at Exchange Intergenerational Recreation Center 2771 Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30034. Registration is open now until Friday, April 26.The Olympic-style sports festival will include free-throw basketball, bowling, track and field, billiards, swimming, table tennis, line dancing, water volleyball and more. Events will be held at various venues across the county. Participants are encouraged to compete as a team or enter individual events. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event. Seniors needing special assistance regarding transportation should call MARTA Mobility at 404-848-5389. 

 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  1. The registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. 
  2. The registration fee is $15, however certain events such as Bowling and Billiards require an additional fee. 
  3. Registration grants individual access to participate in all events, except for the (2) events listed above that require additional payment. 
  4. Both partners in doubles events and each individual in team related events must register and pay the designated fees. 
  5. Payments can be made via card, money order or cashier’s check. 
    1. If paying by cashier’s or money order, please make it payable to “DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs. 
    2. Please note we do not accept personal checks or cash. 
  6. Registered participants will receive a Senior Olympic T-Shirt, distributed at the Senior Olympics kick-off event. 
  7. Special assistance is available upon request during the registration process. 
  8. Special accommodations can be arranged with prior written notice.
  9. For assistance with transportation arrangements, including MARTA Mobility application information, contact 404.848.5389.

The 2024 Senior Olympic Registration is open now – Friday, April 26, 2024. Ways you can register:

ONLINE REGISTRATION

To register online for Senior Olympics and other programs offered by DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, follow these steps:

  1. You will now be redirected to Active Network, the platform for RPCA online registration.
  2. Click Enroll Now and Follow the instructions on the Active Network to register for an account, desired programs and payment.
  3. If you encounter any difficulties or have questions about the online registration process, contact us at 404.371.2711. 

 

That’s it! Follow these steps and you’ll be able to smoothly register for DRPCA programs online.

Visit www.dekalbcountyga.gov/parks 2.	Scroll down to the bottom of page.  3.	Look for the yellow picture icon that says, “your favorite programs are now available online.” 4.	Click on the picture icon.  5.	You will now be redirected to Activenet, the platform for RPCA online registration.  6.	Follow the instructions on Activenet to register for an account, desired programs and payment. 7.	If you encounter any difficulties or have questions about the online registration process, contact us at 404.371.2711.   That’s it! Follow these steps and you’ll be able to smoothly register for DRPCA programs online.
