Residential Single-stream Recycling Program

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division is committed to environmental sustainability, with the residential curbside single-stream recycling program being a critical component of the Division’s environmental stewardship efforts. More than half of the solid waste going to the Seminole Road Landfill is residential waste that could have been recycled. Recycling helps control rising sanitation costs, creates green jobs, and decreases the amount of solid waste sent to the Seminole Road Landfill, extending the Landfill’s useful life.DP4kob1U8AE3dx5.jpg

This subscription-based service is offered to county residents at no additional cost beyond the annual sanitation assessment fee. To date, over 93,000 of the 150,000+ households serviced have subscribed to the program.

Recycling container options
Eighteen-gallon recycling bins and 40-gallon recycling bags are no longer offered as part of the residential single-stream recycling program.

New recycling container options are:

A standard complimentary 35-gallon roll cart
A 65-gallon roll cart for a one-time $15 prepaid fee

While the Division is moving toward two roll cart recycling container options, existing subscribers with 40-gallon bags can continue using them until their inventory is fully depleted. Existing subscribers with 18-gallon bins must trade them in by December 28, 2018, for a 35- or 65-gallon roll cart.
