Tax Commissioner

We understand that many residents have been receiving advice from various sources and tax professionals to pre-pay their property taxes for tax year 2018 and beyond. However, O.C.G.A. §48-5-135 prohibits any Tax Commissioner from collecting or attempting to collect property tax payments prior to the completion and transmission of the County’s annual tax digest, which is usually submitted in July of the taxing year. Failure to adhere to this law shall result in penalties to the County double the amount collected or attempted to be collected. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our taxpayers.
