Winters Chapel Water Main Replacement Project Begins Aug. 10
Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, Aug. 10 with the launch of the Winters Chapel Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace 3,100 linear feet of aging pipelines. The line repair project is expected to last approximately four months (August to November 2026). barring any weather delays.

DeKalb County to Host Dive into DeKalb Back-to-School Celebration
DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs, in partnership with District 6 Commissioner Ted Terry, will host Dive into DeKalb, a back-to-school resource pool party and movie night on Thursday, July 30, at N.H. Scott Pool, 2230 Tilson Road, Decatur, GA. The community resource fair will take place from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by swimming and a movie beginning at dusk.

Lorraine Cochran-Johnson made history on June 18, 2024 when she received a majority vote in 174 out of 191 voting precincts. She garnered 60% of the vote in a runoff election and 320,572 votes in the General Election, becoming the first Black woman elected CEO in DeKalb County, Georgia.
