Sanitation- Tracy Hutchinson

29-37-Tracy_Hutchinson_BGS1395-Edit.jpgAn experienced solid waste management professional with expertise in the areas of environmental assessment, enhancement and compliance, and all aspects of solid waste processing, disposal and landfill operations, Ms. Hutchinson has successfully championed and co-facilitated solid waste management initiatives throughout her tenure within the industry. With a career spanning over 20 years, Ms. Hutchinson has successfully pioneered and presented innovative solid waste and environmental design ideas, concepts and proposals across all organizational levels, and has subsequently integrated new supporting policies and operating procedures into existing business models.

Ms. Hutchinson joined the DeKalb County Sanitation Division in 2004, serving in the role of Assistant Director, Processing & Disposal Services. In September 2016, Ms. Hutchinson was appointed Interim Deputy Director, Public Works – Sanitation. In this role, Ms. Hutchinson oversees the entire Division’s day-to-day operations, and develops and implements long-range strategic plans for the Division’s administrative and field operations comprising 641 employees within five operational areas. Serving at the helm of the County’s third-largest division, the hallmark of Ms. Hutchinson’s tenure is her commitment to maintaining a culture of excellence in all aspects of the Division’s operations. In collaboration with her team members overseeing the communications, field collections, processing, disposal and administrative/customer service areas, Ms. Hutchinson’s vision, which closely aligns with the Division’s overall mission, is unequivocal and integrates the following:

  • Provide timely and efficient service to the Division’s more than 175,000 customers, with a sustained focus on customer service excellence
  • Implement and sustain innovative and viable divisional control policies and procedures, aimed at continually improving operational efficiencies
  • Deliver the Division’s messaging to diverse audiences and stakeholders with confidence, conviction, professionalism, clarity and purpose

Immediately preceding her tenure with the DeKalb County Sanitation Division, Ms. Hutchinson served in a senior management role for 10 years with Waste Management. Ms. Hutchinson’s professional affiliations include serving as corporate director for SWANA North America, and subsequently, president of the SWANA Georgia Chapter. Ms. Hutchinson also holds professional certifications in landfill operations, collection systems and recycling systems, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Savannah State University.

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division is a self-sustaining enterprise fund operation, providing a comprehensive and integrated solid waste management program to residential and commercial customers in unincorporated DeKalb County, and the cities of Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Lithonia and Tucker.

Mission

To provide an efficient, cost-effective and sustainable integrated solid waste management program through garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection, processing and disposal services for residents and businesses in unincorporated DeKalb County, and the cities of Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Lithonia and Tucker, with a sustained focus on customer service excellence.
