The Office of Aging was established in 1999 to serve the County’s growing and diverse senior citizen population. The Office of Aging provides DeKalb seniors with resources and services that enrich their lives and encourage them to engage in healthy activities, manage their wellness, and become socially involved. As a designated County-Based Aging Program/Nutrition Service Provider (CBA/NSP), we either directly provide or contract with other nonprofit or government agencies to provide the following services:
With an emphasis on home and community-based services that support independent living, we are committed to raising awareness about issues facing older adults, and helping all individuals thrive in communities of their choice for as long as possible. | Information and Referral Services | ||||||
|
The Office of Aging provides information and referral assistance to seniors 60 years of age and older. We also provide support to seniors’ family members or caregivers. Our Information & Referral (I&R) Specialists provide information to callers about services obtained through DeKalb County’s Office of Aging or other agencies. | Case Management | ||||||
|
Case management is the service entry point for the Office of Aging. Our case managers conduct a collaborative process that assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and constantly evaluates the options and services needed to meet the client’s health and human service needs. |

|
In-Home Services: |
||||||
|
In-home services assist homebound seniors with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), ranging from bathing assistance to companionship. The In-Home Services program helps seniors to age in place by providing homemaker, personal care and respite care in their home. The homemaker service provides light housekeeping in the senior’s living space to help them maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment. Personal care services include bathing, grooming, and other personal hygiene activities. Respite service combines homemaker, personal care, and companionship services. This gives the caregiver support and an opportunity to run errands or conduct other activities outside the home if needed. | Home Delivered Meals |
 |
Home-delivered meals are available to seniors who are homebound, 60 years of age or older, and residing in DeKalb County. This program accommodates various dietary needs, and seniors who qualify are provided meals delivered directly to their homes every week. Some seniors may have a cost share (determined based on income). Meal Plan Options:
