Construction to install new water main pipes

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Thursday, Oct. 9, with the launch of the San Gabriel Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 43,100 linear feet of ductile iron water pipe between Columbia Drive and Glenwood Road.

This water improvement project is expected to last approximately 14 months (October 2025 to December 2026), barring any weather delays.

This project is part of DeKalb County’s $4.27 billion capital improvement program to improve capacity and service of the watershed systems serving the community.

Normal construction hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. An increase in construction-related noise and traffic during work hours should be expected
