DeKalb County’s water and wastewater systems support homes, businesses, schools, and essential services across the community.

As the county grows, investing in this infrastructure is critical to maintaining reliable service and meeting future needs. Through the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), DeKalb County is making strategic investments to improve, maintain, and modernize its water and wastewater systems.

Master Plan Executive Summary

In 2020, the Department of Watershed Management completed its first comprehensive Master Plan to guide future water and wastewater system improvements. The plan was developed using advanced hydraulic modeling, stakeholder input, and long-term service projections through 2050 to help identify and evaluate future system needs.

Approved by the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners in 2021, the Department of Watershed Management’s Capital Improvement Program (2021–2030) outlines infrastructure investments designed to strengthen and maintain the county’s water and wastewater systems.
