DeKalb County Cooperative Extension is calling for applications for Fresh on DeK, the DeKalb Mobile Farmers Market, stops for 2022. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 17, 2021. Launched in May 2015, Fresh on DeK has raised awareness about the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption for healthy living by providing fresh, affordable produce and food demonstrations to county residents.

Crews have removed a plane which crashed on North Decatur this morning. North Decatur Road, from DeKalb Industrial Way to Winn Way, remains closed while Georgia Power crews work to restore power lines and electricity in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice.

Due to a plane crash, North Decatur Road, from DeKalb Industrial Way to Winn Way, is closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice. At approximately 9:45 a.m., a plane, which had departed DeKalb-Peachtree Airport en route to Perry, Ga., crashed onto North Decatur Road after reportedly experiencing engine problems.

In observance of Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11, garbage, recyclable materials, and yard trimmings collection for residential customers will be based on a revised collection schedule. The North Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11. The Central Transfer Station, Seminole Road Landfill, and Customer Care call center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11, reopening on Friday, Nov. 12, during normal operating hours.
