Angela D. Evans-Afflick (she/her) is a Senior Assistant County Attorney in the Law Department’s Development Group, where she represents the Code Compliance Administration of the Beautification Unit of the DC Sanitation Division, the Board of Health, Tax Assessor's Office, Tax Commissioner's Office, Police Services, Facilities Management, and Workforce Development. For these departments, she handles quality of life issues relating to code compliance, condemnation/nuisance abatement laws, ensures conformity with public health laws relating to tuberculosis as mandated by the BOH, defends valuations established by Tax Assessor, processes quiet titles, prepares and files abatement liens, and reviews leases, contracts and grants.
Beyond her 21 years of service with DeKalb County, Ms. Afflick has 16 years of legal and managerial experience with private industry and federal government law enforcement agencies. Her expertise ranges from participating in mediation and arbitration to litigating for clients in civil and criminal cases in state and federal courts. She represented a broad spectrum of clientele, including government contracting firms, city legislators, private corporations, and recording industry artists. She is licensed to practice in Georgia, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania. She is a graduate from Spelman College, North Carolina Central University School of Law and holds a Masters’ in Government Contracting from George Washington University. She is a member of Leadership DeKalb and serves as Senior Pastor for First Christian Community Church in Atlanta, GA. In 2016, she was recognized as a DeKalb County Torchbearer for her work with the Demolitions and Abatement Task Force. She enjoys reading, cooking, walking, and working with young adults.
