Bennett D. Bryan

Bennett Davis Bryan (he/him) is the Supervising County Attorney of the Planning & Development Team, where he provides advice to county agencies and officials involved in zoning, licensing, contracting, code compliance, historic preservation, economic development, and tax-related matters. Specializing in appellate litigation, Mr. Bryan has represented DeKalb County and its officials on multiple occasions before the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  

Prior to joining the Law Department, Mr. Bryan was a litigation associate for an AMLAW top 50 law firm and a special prosecutor for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Bryan earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he was an editor of the Georgia Law Review, and he earned his B.A. and M.B.A. from Piedmont University. Before that, Mr. Bryan served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Mr. Bryan often presents at legal seminars and conferences concerning local government law, immunities, and civil rights litigation, and he currently serves as a trial techniques instructor at Emory Law School. He earned the Daily Report’s 2021 “On the Rise” Legal Award, Piedmont University’s 2020 “Pacesetter” Alumni Award, the DeKalb Law Department’s 2016 “Attorney of the Year” Award and was a member of the Leadership DeKalb Class of 2016.
