John E. Jones, Jr.

John E. Jones, Jr. (he/him) is the Supervising County Attorney of the Law Department’s Infrastructure and Development Group. Mr. Jones has served in the Law Department since 2006, where his practice areas of concentration are zoning and land use. He routinely provides legal opinions to county representatives and department heads and represents DeKalb County in commercial and residential tax appeals and other litigation.

Mr. Jones earned his J.D. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998 and a B.A. in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994. Prior to joining the Law Department, he gained approximately eight years of litigation experience while employed with metro-Atlanta area law firms. Outside of the office, he enjoys playing pickleball, traveling, and participating in church activities.
