Eviction forbearance funding allocated to NAACP DeKalb, Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda, and First African Community Development Corporation

On Aug. 10, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson’s allocation of $600,000 for eviction forbearance and assistance with utilities. This funding allocation is made possible through the American Rescue Plan, signed by President Joe Biden earlier this year.

The funding will be allocated to three community-based organizations that will provide direct assistance to DeKalb County homeowners for eviction forbearance and utility assistance. The following organizations have been allocated funding to provide needed aid homeowners and residents in District 5:

First African Community Development Corporation

(404) 343-6861

DeKalb County NAACP

(404) 241-8006

Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda

(404) 653-1199

District 5 residents in need of assistance can contact any of above community-based organizations for help with eviction forbearance or utilities.

“In DeKalb County, we are doing all that we can to help families keep a roof over their head, lights and running water in the midst of this pandemic,” Commissioner Davis Johnson said.
