DeKalb County police officers are driving in newly sanitized vehicles thanks to a donation from RideKleen, a Cox Automotive brand and the leader in eco-conscious, mobile car care.

From April 27 through May 8, RideKleen will sanitize 140 of the county’s police vehicles, focusing on those that transport suspects, crime witnesses and victims. Cleaning is taking place daily, rotating countywide between all police precincts.

“DeKalb County Government thanks Georgia State Senator Emanuel Jones for facilitating this donation from Cox Automotive,” said DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond. “Successfully managing a pandemic requires partnerships from all levels of government as well as public and private entities.”

“DeKalb County certainly appreciates the corporate citizenship demonstrated by Cox Automotive,” said Jack Lumpkin, deputy chief operating officer and director of DeKalb County Public Safety. “This is another example of DeKalb County forming partnerships that enhance the safety of our frontline workers.”

RideKleen is using an EPA-registered and approved product that kills up to 99.9 percent of germs, bacteria, mold, mildew and emerging viruses and inhibits the growth of harmful odor-causing germs, mold and mildew for up to 30 days post-treatment. RideKleen performs disinfection services in select markets and will be making a do-it-yourself disinfection offering available soon.

“RideKleen is prioritizing vehicle hygiene with an enhanced offering to our everyday solutions and operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Pratik Patel, CEO of RideKleen. “We’re proud to assist the brave men and women of the DeKalb County Police Department, who are playing such a critical role at this time. This collaboration is consistent with our commitment to delivering safer, healthier vehicles for our customers and the communities we serve.”
