Repairs underway at McLendon Drive water main break
DeKalb County Watershed crews were treated to a pizza dinner by a customer impacted by a water main break on McLendon Drive.
DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond said, “We are grateful to Ms. Sruti Nuthalapati for providing our crews pizza as they work diligently to repair the water main.”
A tree crew has removed a large tree at the site of the water main break and watershed crews have begun repairs.
Georgia Power has restored service to the area.
A cautionary boil water advisory remains in effect for the area bounded by Scott Boulevard on the north; Avondale Road through Old Rockbridge Road on the south; Interstate 285 on the east; and DeKalb Industrial Way on the west.
According to DWM’s standard operating procedures and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s guidance, a boil water advisory is not mandated.
However, out of an abundance of caution, DWM issued the boil water advisory for the affected area.
Although the pressure throughout the system never dropped below the 20 PSI threshold which triggers a boil water advisory, some customers experienced low to no water pressure in their homes.
DeKalb County Watershed has placed a pallet of bottled water near the intersection of McLendon Drive and North Avenue for customers impacted by the water main break.
