DECATUR, Ga.— DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson recently met with the partners of Bank OZK to welcome them to District 3.

“I am grateful that Bank OZK has continued to expand its footprint in Georgia in District 3 of DeKalb County,” Commissioner Johnson said. Bank OZK is a regional bank headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, with 200 locations, 70 offices in Georgia and five in metro Atlanta.

On June 25, 2020, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the zoning plans for Bank OZK. The one-story, 3,909-square-foot building with two drive-through lanes that provides access to the bank externally will be located at the northeast corner of Memorial Drive and Midway Road.

Forbes named Bank OZK the No. 1 bank in Georgia in 2019 and 2020. Forbes’ America’s Best Bank in Each State rankings are based on consumer ratings on trust, terms and conditions, branch services, digital services and financial advice.

“Bank OZK is pleased to be expanding our current 70 office branch network in Georgia with a future office planned in DeKalb County,” stated Melvin Edwards, Bank OZK’s senior vice president of administrative services.

“Our Decatur office will allow us to better serve East Atlanta with convenient and competitive financial services. Bank OZK continues to make significant investments and enhancements in both our digital banking services and brick and mortar offices.  We want banking to be as convenient as picking up a mobile phone to access your account 24/7, or as personal as making a call directly to your banker when you need personal assistance and guidance to help you reach your financial goals."

Because Commissioner Johnson believes in fostering community partnerships, he  has asked for a commitment from Bank OZK to partner with him to hold a job fair to hire community residents.

“During this pandemic, we have experienced quite a bit of job impact and loss, therefore it is great to see new economic development continuing to come to the community to offer more job opportunities,” Commissioner Johnson said.
