DeKalb County officials announced that normal County services and operations will resume on Tuesday, January 27, following updated weather information and improved conditions related to Winter Storm Fern.

County leadership had previously anticipated extended impacts from the storm; however, updated weather information and current weather predictions now allow for a safe return to normal operations. As a result, County government buildings will reopen, and in-person services, programs, and operations will resume as scheduled.

Residents can expect:

  • Reopening of County offices and facilities
  • Restoration of in-person County services
  • Resumption of County-sponsored programming and activities

The regularly scheduled meeting of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners will be held in person on Tuesday as scheduled.

While conditions have improved, officials urge residents to continue using caution when traveling, particularly on bridges, ramps, and shaded roadways where isolated icy spots may remain. Allowing extra travel time is recommended.

Warming centers will remain open for residents who continue to experience power outages or lack heat, and essential services will remain fully operational to support public safety and community needs.

DeKalb County will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Residents are encouraged to follow official County communication channels for the most current information.
