DeKalb County Watershed Announces Annual Calendar Contest

DECATUR, Ga. — DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is looking for artistic elementary students from across the county to enter its 2018 Art Calendar Contest.

The annual contest awards 12 kindergarten through 5th-grade winners during a special ceremony to be held at a 2018 Board of Commissioners’ meeting. The 2018 calendar theme is “Protecting our Water Resources” and artwork submission ideas include:

  • Don’t litter in creeks and rivers;
  • Don’t pour cooking grease down the drain, put it in a jar and throw it away instead;
  • Planting trees to slow water erosion; and
  • Clean up after your pets.

Submitted artwork must be drawn horizontally (landscape) on 8½ x 11 inch white paper and submitted by Friday, Dec. 15. Submissions must include the artwork title, student’s name, school name, address, grade level, age, teacher’s name, teacher’s contact number, and teacher’s email address on the back of each entry.
