DeKalb to Demolish Abandoned Stone Mountain Property

DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County is set to demolish an abandoned and dilapidated Stone Mountain property, the first demolition for the 2019 calendar year.

At the beginning of 2017, CEO Michael Thurmond allocated $3.8 million in funds approved by the Board of Commissioners to enhance blight-fighting initiatives and address derelict properties in DeKalb.

The county’s efforts to eradicate blight has increased and the blight remediation program has demolished or abated 296 vacant, abandoned or poorly maintained properties since 2017.
