DECATUR, Ga. –Earlier today, DeKalb County Emergency Management coordinated with Walmart Emergency Management to donate more than 72,000 bottles of water for distribution to the approximately 130 schools of DeKalb County School District and three campuses of DeKalb Medical.

A boil water advisory is still in effect for DeKalb County Watershed customers. The boil water advisory was issued Wednesday after a 48-inch water main broke near Buford Highway and caused much of the county to lose water pressure.

Until otherwise notified by DeKalb County, customers should continue to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.

DeKalb Watershed Management crews are on site replacing the 48-inch main. Work is proceeding as expected is scheduled for completion Friday evening.
