DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond and WorkSource DeKalb have partnered to launch “DeKalb Works,” a summer internship program that pairs more than 300 DeKalb residents ages 14 to 24 with private and public sector employers.

“Work experiences are a critical component of preparing youth for the transition to adulthood,” said CEO Thurmond. “A job can often mean so much more than a paycheck, such as mentor connections, career path exploration and practical training, which increases future employability.”

Applications are now available for the six-week program online at www.dekalbcountyga.gov/dekalbworks. To qualify, youth must be DeKalb County residents between the ages of 14 and 24. Before beginning their internships, participants will complete interviews and career-readiness training. The program runs June 5 through July 14.

For additional information, contact WorkSource DeKalb Youth Services at wsdyouth@dekalbcountyga.gov or 404-687-3400. Applications are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
