DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections (DeKalb VRE) is reminding voters about the upcoming special election for the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC). Early voting runs from May 27 through June 13, Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend advance voting will also be available on Saturdays, May 31 and June 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays, June 1 and June 8, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

During the June 17, Special Primary Election, all voters will see District 2 and District 3 contests for the PSC on their ballots, regardless of where they live in DeKalb County.  Although candidates qualify by district, the PSC is a statewide office.  Voters do not vote by district, but by selecting their party preference, as this is a partisan primary election.  All eligible voters must choose a Democratic or Republican ballot to participate in the election. DeKalb voters can take advantage of ten (10) convenient early voting locations, with six (6) sites offering secure drop boxes for hand-delivery of absentee ballots.

“Our PSC plays an important role in our daily lives, and it’s important for voters to remain engaged in each and every election,” said Executive Director of DeKalb Voter Registration and Elections Keisha Smith. “We want to remind voters to always make a plan to vote and to familiarize themselves with early voting and Election Day locations before heading out.”

According to DeKalb VRE officials, May 26 marks the first day absentee ballots will be issued for June PSC race. Voters have until June 6 to request an absentee ballot for the upcoming special election.
