Construction to install new water main pipes

Efforts to improve the watershed system throughout DeKalb County continue Monday, Oct. 13, with the launch of the Panola Road Water Main Replacement Project. Crews will replace approximately 11,400 linear feet of ductile iron water pipe in two phases:

  • Phase I: Begins on Salem Road and will go east to Big Miller Road then north to Panola Road, ending at Minola Drive/Fairington Road.
  • Phase II: Begins at the intersection of Snapfinger and Panola Roads and continues northeast on Panola Road, including Twin Lakes Drive, and until it gets to Salem Road.

Phase I of this water improvement project is expected to last approximately 11 months (October 2025 to September 2026), barring any weather delays. Phase II of this water improvement project is expected to last approximately 10 months (January 2026 to October 2026), barring any weather delays.

This project is part of DeKalb County’s $4.27 billion capital improvement program to improve capacity and service of the watershed systems serving the community.

Normal construction hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. An increase in construction-related noise and traffic during work hours should be expected.
