DeKalb County Public Library (DCPL) announced today that the Decatur Library will reopen on February 10 at 10:00 a.m. The library is implementing new entry procedures designed to provide a safe and secure environment for library visitors.

“Our commitment to a safe reopening is our top priority. The reopening, originally planned for February 9, has been moved to February 10 to allow for additional coordination for enhanced security measures,” said Alison Weissinger, Director of DeKalb County Public Library. “We have taken concrete steps to improve our security posture, and every person who enters our doors can focus on the resources and community connection the library provides. We are also deeply grateful for the community’s patience and support during this time.”

To ensure the highest level of safety, all patrons are now required to enter through the rear entrance of the building. DCPL has established a dedicated screening area where a DeKalb County Police Officer and a security guard will be stationed during all hours of operation.

As these new screening measures are integrated into daily operations, patrons are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early for scheduled programs and events. Please visit dekalblibrary.org for the most up-to-date information regarding hours of operation and any adjustments to scheduled programming.
