Initially, “youth” will be defined as the total population of all children to older teens, living in DeKalb regardless of resident locale, school district, socio-economic or cultural disposition. Of the 700,000 persons living in DeKalb, just over 51,000 are children under age 5 and approximately 168,000 are young people under age 18. The 18-24 age structure of DeKalb County is comprised of 31,673 young adults. The total universe of targeted young people will include:
• Coordinated Youth Services for Ages 0 – 5
• Coordinated Youth Services for Ages 6 – 12
• Coordinated Youth Services for Teens; ages 13 – 18
• Coordinated Youth Services for Youth; ages 18 – 24
