DECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond has appointed new directors to lead WorkSource DeKalb and Facilities Management.
Theresa Austin-Gibbons has been appointed to serve as director of WorkSource DeKalb, effective April 2. She will oversee WorkSource DeKalb’s 32 employees and federally-funded programs that provide workforce solutions for businesses seeking a skilled workforce, dislocated workers, the unemployed and low-income adults and youth in DeKalb.
Austin-Gibbons has more than 20 years of experience in workforce and economic development at local, state and federal levels, as well as in the private sector. She began her career at the Georgia Department of Labor Career Center in Thomasville, Georgia, where she worked more than a decade as a contract specialist and Career Center manager in Thomasville and Atlanta. Most recently, she served as the federal compliance program manager for the Department of Employment Services in Washington, D.C.
Austin-Gibbons earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Valdosta State University and a Master of Science in business management from Troy University.
Clyde Stovall has been appointed to serve as director of Facilities Management and will lead the department’s 50 employees with a budget of $50 million. He has served as the department’s interim director since April 2017 and manages capital construction projects and maintenance of DeKalb’s 274 buildings.
Stovall has more than 35 years of facilities management experience, which includes real estate development, construction management and statewide facilities maintenance responsibilities. He previously served as the director of facilities and engineering and construction for the State of Georgia and led the state’s $1 billion capital improvement program that awarded more than 100 major construction projects.
Stovall received a Bachelor of Science in civil and structural engineering from Texas Tech University and holds a professional engineering certification.
