DECATUR, Ga. — DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond and Board of Commissioners recognized the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) on March 13 for quickly repairing a water main break in Doraville.

On Wednesday, March 7, a break occurred in a 48-inch transmission main near Buford Highway causing countywide low water pressure and interrupted water service. A dedicated crew of nearly 50 DWM employees worked diligently to repair the transmission main and restore water service to the county 24 hours ahead of the original schedule.

CEO Thurmond also recognized the DeKalb Emergency Management Agency, DeKalb County Police Department, DeKalb County Fire Rescue, Georgia Mutual Aid Group and the Cobb County Marietta Water Authority for their assistance in completing the water main restoration.
