DeKalb to Demonstrate Proper Turkey Deep Frying and Grease Disposal

DECATUR, Ga. – The DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department and the DeKalb Department of Watershed Management (DWM) will hold a press briefing demonstrating the proper procedure for deep frying holiday turkeys and disposing of fats, oils and greases on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Training Academy at 3161 Warren Road, Decatur, 30034.

The demonstration reinforces the safety precautions needed when preparing to deep fry a turkey during the holiday season. Firefighters will show how dangerous it is to attempt to fry a frozen turkey in a pot that has been overfilled with cooking grease.  Immediately following, a representative from DWM will demonstrate the safe and responsible method to dispose of cooking grease after frying the turkeys.
