Diversion Program - Internships

Through a partnership with the DeKalb County Court – Diversion Programs, WorkSource DeKalb aims to reduce the recidivism rate of youth in DeKalb County. During this collaborative program, participants will receive life and soft skills training, complete community service projects and participate in a paid internship.

The anticipated outcome is for county youth to re-direct their focus to becoming contributing citizens. Additionally, assistance will be provided to help those in need to complete their high school diploma, GED or a nationally recognized occupational certification.

In order to participate in the diversion program, all participants must be deemed eligible as defined by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. Youth, parents and guardians who have an interest in program participation requirements may contact our office.

Every youth participant must submit the following:

Youth Services Program Eligibility Documents

  1. Signed Social Security card
  2. Birth certificate
  3. Georgia ID
  4. Current utility bill
  5. Proof of income (Compass profile page or six months of household wages)
  6. Proof of out of school status

In order for your application to be considered:

  1. You must have a valid email address & contact number,
  2. Submit an essay explaining "Why" you wish to be in the program & "How" the program will benefit you in the resume section of the application
  3. When completing the application, you must select one of the three applicable options; otherwise your application process may be delayed.
