NO CASH POLICY
Effective September 1, 2016, Planning & Sustainability will no longer accept cash for permits and business license.
Reason: The economy is slowly moving to a cashless society; and currently, only 7 percent of all transactions in the United States are done with cash, and most of those transactions involve very small amounts of money; and the Department of Watershed Planning and Development department does not accept cash; and the back of the house processing of cash is cumbersome; and cash is more difficult to track and reconcile.
HENCE, the purpose of this policy is to establish the abolishment of the receipt of cash as an acceptable form of payment. Effective 9/1/2016, the Department of Planning and Sustainability shall not accept cash for any services rendered, including those for collected at permitting and business license stations. The following payment forms shall be acceptable:
• Credit / Debit cards
• Personal and business checks
• Cashier’s Check
• Money Order
• Online Payments (where available)
