DEKALB COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT
DISTRICT 7 COVID-19 EMERGENCY HOUSING ASSISTANCE FUND

DeKalb County Human Services in partnership with District 7 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran Johnson has developed this COVID-19 Emergency Housing Assistance Fund. This program is designed to assist DeKalb County residents, living in District 7, who have been impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic for the purpose of Emergency Rent, Mortgage and Utility Assistance. Eligible DeKalb residents will receive assistance based upon documentation of need and subject to the availability of funds.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a DeKalb County Resident and living in District 7 (see map below)
  • Must have documented loss of income due to COVID
  • Must have a documented eviction notice or late mortgage notice
  • Must have a documented late notice or disconnection notice on utilities (in applicants’ name)

To Apply:

  1. Download the Assistance Application.
  2. Complete the Assistance Application and save an electronic copy of your application.
  3. Scan or Take a Picture of qualifying utility bills and/or rent or mortgage statements.
  4. Your application must be submitted via email to receive consideration.
  5. Subject of Email should state “Rental Assistance- First Name Last Name” (example: Rental Assistance- Jane Doe)
  6. Email the application and a copy of your delinquent utility bills, rent or mortgage statements to avandevere@dekalbcountyga.gov

Online applications will be accepted starting Tuesday, March 1, 2022, through September 2022. Applications will be processed on a first come first served basis. This is a time limited program, and all awards are subject to the continued availability of funding.

Note: Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the physical office is not open and hard copies of applications will not be accepted.
