Education Program

Education is of paramount importance to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office. We offer several different educational opportunities to a wide array of students and trainees.

Pathology Residents

A four-week core rotation is established with the Residency Training Program for Emory University School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine to provide hands-on forensic autopsy and death investigation training for junior and senior residents.

Medical Students

Four-week elective rotations are developed with multiple medical schools to provide a unique experience for medical students interested in forensic pathology.

Internships

There are a variety of internship opportunities available for students studying biology, forensic science, anthropology, criminal justice, public health, and other related fields.

Shadowing

An opportunity for students and teaching facilities to engage in an interactive tour of our facility and observe a post-mortem examination under the direct supervision of a forensic pathologist or pathologists' assistant.
