If you believe that your loved one may be missing and you would like to file a missing person's report, please bring any and all photos, medical documentation, or identification documents with you. There will be multiple representatives from surrounding police jurisdictions to take new cases, as well as a representative from NamUs. These documents will be scanned in and will be returned to you soon after.

For families who would like to submit DNA samples, it would be ideal to have DNA from two family members, from both the maternal and paternal sides of the family.

DeKalb County Unidentified Cases

Case #87-0811

On August 13, 1987, skeletonized remains of an unidentified individual was found in the wooded area near Austin Drive in Decatur, GA by several teens who were walking through the woods. The individual was found in a red and blue winter jacket, a brown ‘Dickies’ jumpsuit, and a hospital gown. Rubber boots were found nearby. It is suspected that the individual had been deceased for a few months. They believe the individual might have been around 40 years of age at the time of her death.

 

Sex: Female

Race: Black

Height: 5 feet 7 inches

Weight: Approximately 140lbs

Hair: Black, tightly curled

Case #89-1168

On October 6th, 1989, an unidentified individual was trying to cross the street on Oakview Drive at Second Avenue, when he was run over by an unidentified vehicle. The individual was subsequently transported to Grady Hospital, but unfortunately, he later died of his injuries.

 

Height: Approx. 5 feet 9 inches

Weight: Approx. 128lbs

Hair: Curly Black hair

Case #90-0325

This rendering represents the individual after being in the hospital for two months. He lost about 50 lbs. 

This rendering represents the individual at the beginning of his two-month hospital stay, before he lost weight. 

On January 13th, 1990, this individual was hit by an unknown vehicle. He was taken to Shallowford Community Hospital where he remained in a coma for two months before passing away on March 11th, 1990.

Despite the hospital receiving multiple tips from the public regarding his identity, all of them were dead ends. The decedent is a Black male who appears to be about 30 years of age.

Weight: 120lbs (170 lbs at time of accident)

Hair: Short, curly black hair with a mustache and beard.

Case #90-0505

On April 26, 1990, and unidentified individual was found in an abandoned residence on Thomas Road in Decatur, Georgia. It is believed this person might be related to a shooting on the premises a few months prior when the owner thought he saw an intruder. The individual was found wearing a white or tan short sleeve button-down shirt with four pennies in the left shirt pocket, thick, tan dress slacks, and white leather tennis shoes with the letters “BK” on the outside. They suspect he may have been about 25-35 years old.

Race: Black

Height: 5 feet 8 ½ inches to 5 feet 10 inches

Weight: Approximately 160lbs.

Hair: Short and curly black hair.

Case #91-0451

On April 5, 1991, an unidentified deceased individual was found in a wooded area near the end of Idlewild Road in Decatur, Georgia. The decedent wasn’t wearing any clothing when she was found.  A blue tennis shoe was found in the area, as well as a lower-to-mid-length tan coat, and a long sleeve green knit sweater. Investigators suspect she may have been there for about two weeks. The individual appeared to be between the ages of 25 and 50.

Case #93-1122

IDENTIFIED

On September 17,1993, the remains of a significantly decomposed/partially skeletonized Caucasian female were found in a wooded strip off of Northlake Parkway on the West side of Interstate 285.

The remains were found clothed in a black t-shirt with a multi-colored monogram on the front that reads "WAIKOLOA", blue jeans, white leather athletic shoes bearing "Cross Trainer" and "XJ900", size 8 and no undergarments of any kind. No jewelry was found on the body.

The decedent had extensive dental work including a fixed gold bridge, two full gold crowns and both upper front teeth were porcelain fused to metal crowns. The decedent has also undergone a full left hip replacement that repaired an intertrochanteric fracture of the left hip. This is an open homicide and further detailed information will be given to law enforcement only.

Weight: Approximately 120 to 130 pounds

Hair: Long, Curly, Frosted/Light Brown

Case #94-0883

On July 18, 1994, an unidentified deceased individual was found suspended in a ‘tree canopy,’ 12 feet above a creek bed near DeKalb Industrial Way. The tree canopy is described as a ‘very large, igloo-shaped, kudzu and vine canopy.’ The tree canopy had two floors, one of the rooms large enough to accommodate about 15-20 people. The individual was found wearing blue jeans with a size 32 waist and 31 inseams, along with a USPS key and a pocket knife. Due to a note found in the individual’s pocket, it is suspected he was a patient at the Bridgeport Transitional Living Center at some point in the past.

Case #95-0751

On June 25, 1995, the skeletal remains of an unidentified Black male were found in a wooded area inside Stone Mountain Park. No clothing was found on the remains. A stainless steel wire was present in the lower left jaw indicating a previous repair of a fractured jaw. There was a pronounced gap between the upper front teeth, as well as a nonexistent socket for tooth #9. The individual is suspected to be between 30 and 50 years of age at the time of his passing.

Case #96-0745

    

On June 22nd, 1996, this unknown individual was shot after entering a residence on Ansley Street in Decatur, GA. This decedent fled the scene but was soon found deceased down the street from the scene.

The decedent was found in a dark-colored pullover shirt with the logo “Conversion Experience,” and a pair of dark blue/black sweatpants. He was also wearing a pair of purple, black, and gold-colored Nike athletic shoes.

 

Height: 5 feet 10 inches

Weight: 150 lbs

Approx. Age: 30 to 40 years

Hair: Tight, curly, black hair, with a few gray hairs noted.

Case #04-0468

  

On Wednesday, April 7th, 2004, this unidentified Black male was brought to Grady Memorial Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the head. This individual had been shot outside the Garden Dunwoody Apartments in Dunwoody, GA.

This individual was wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt, white sneakers, and a red, white, and blue 76'ers round-style cap. He had one piercing on his right earlobe, and two piercings on his left earlobe. 

 

Height: 6 feet 0 inches

Weight: 127 lbs.

Approx. Age: Mid-20's

Hair: Short, black, curly

Case #06-0052

On Tuesday, January 10th, 2006, this unidentified Hispanic male was attempting to cross I-85 when he was struck by multiple vehicles. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased soon after. 

The individual was wearing a blue knit cap bearing the "Thrashers" logo on the front. He was also wearing a pair of "Starter," white athletic shoes that are trimmed in black.

 

Height: 5 feet 6 inches

Weight: 174 lbs. 

Approx. Age: 20 to 35 years 

Hair: Short black hair on the sides, with longer black hair on the top

Case #07-1266

On October 20, 2007, an unidentified Hispanic Male was found in a wooded area behind a dumpster near the Park Ridge Office Complex on Chamblee-Tucker Road in Atlanta, Georgia. The individual was found wearing a tan thermal long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and black low-cut lace front shoes. The individual also had a 1 ½” linear scar on the medial aspect of his left ankle.

Height: 5 foot 3 Inches – 5 foot 6 inches

Weight: 128lbs – 170lbs

Hair: Black, straight hair about 2” long, frontal and vertex balding noted

On August 7, 2016, an unidentified Hispanic male was found at an abandoned lot on Reeves Street & Lu Jan Drive in Atlanta, Georgia. The individual was found wearing a black rolling stones t-shirt, black jeans, black shoes, and a camouflage belt. A white and blue NY-style baseball cap was also found near him.

Case #17-1022

On July 24, 2017, an unidentified Black individual was shot after entering a residence on Beachwood Forest Drive in Lithonia. They were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where they were ultimately pronounced deceased.

The unidentified decedent is described as biologically male, Black, 20 to 30 years of age, with no tattoos or scars. They were reported to be wearing a wig and some female clothing, leading us to suspect that the individual may have identified as a different gender than their biological sex. At the hospital, staff reported that the individual said their name was either “Justin” or “Justine.”

Case #18-0196

On February 1, 2018, an unidentified Black male was found in the wooded area of Rehoboth Park in Decatur, Georgia. The decedent was found wearing a black jacket, a grey jacket, a long sleeve grey shirt, and a red t-shirt with the name “Jeju Sauna” on the front. He was also wearing black Adidas shoes and had a gold cross charm in one of his pockets.

Case #18-1411

On September 24, 2018, an unidentified White male was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center from a Pilot Travel Center on Bouldercrest Road in Atlanta, Georgia. Bystanders witnessed the individual go into cardiac arrest inside of the Wendy’s restaurant at the Pilot location. The individual has two small pale scars on his left knee-cap. It is suspected that the individual may have had diabetes.

On February 27, 2020, an unidentified individual was found deceased in a burned home on Panola Road in Lithonia, Georgia. The individual was wearing a grey-colored long sleeve shirt underneath a blue t-shirt with a red and white stripe. The individual was wearing blue shorts and a had a rusted metal necklace on. It is believed that this individual might have been in his 60's-80's.

On August 2, 2020, an unidentified individual was found in a creek behind 4540 Memorial Drive in Decatur, Georgia. The individual was found wearing “Bob Barker” brand underwear and a paper suit. It is believed that this individual might have recently gotten out of jail, although that is not certain.

On October 23, 2020, an unidentified Black male was found in the woodline behind a business located at 3217 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia. The individual was found wearing blue jeans, a white sock, and a silver stone stud earring in his left ear.

On May 6, 2021, unidentified skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near Old Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur, Georgia. The anthropologist has determined that these remains most likely belong to a middle age to older adult male of an unknown race. Height and weight were also unable to be determined. It is unknown how long these remains may have been at this location for.

Case #21-2126

On November 12, 2021, unidentified skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker, Georgia. The decedent was found with a pair of gray New Balance sneakers, dark colored pants, a tan and white stripped button up shirt, and a navy-blue windbreaker jacket. It is suspected that this individual may have had a history of depression or suicidal thoughts due to the nature of how his remains were found. He is believed to be between the ages of 30 to 50 years.

On February 6, 2022, an unidentified Black male was found behind a store on Columbia Drive in Decatur, Georgia. It is suspected that this individual may have been homeless and lived behind this store. The individual was found wearing tan pants, a long-sleeved black jacket, a long-sleeved grey jacket, and a long-sleeved grey t-shirt.
