The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management Public Relations Division invites all DeKalb County elementary school students to enter the 

21st Annual Art Calendar Contest

Rules: 

  1. Participating students must attend an elementary (K-5 or equivalent) public, private, or home school located within DeKalb County. 
  2. Submitted artwork must be drawn horizontally (landscape) on 8 ½ inch x 11-inch white paper. Clearly print the artwork title, student’s name, school name, address, grade level, age, teacher’s name, teacher’s contact number, and teacher’s e-mail address as well as the parents/guardians contact information on the Entry Form. 
  3. The following materials may be used to create the illustration: 

    Note: Artwork submissions done mostly in graphite pencil will not be considered for judging.
    • Ink 
    • Watercolor
    • Poster Paint
    • Markers
    • Fabric                   
    • Cut paper              
    • Crayon                 
    • Colored Pencils
  1. Only original artwork will be accepted with the Entry Form.
  2. Winning artwork will become the property of DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management and may be reproduced for marketing purposes.
  3. DO’s and DON’Ts

 

DON’Ts

  • DO NOT write on the back of the artwork it shows when being printed for the calendar.
  • DO NOT attach the entry form to the back of the artwork with tape it staples (it damages the artwork. 
  • DO NOT copy artwork from an outside source. It must be original work.
  • DO Not leave any information off of the entry form.
  • DO NOT just use a regular pencil for your artwork, it does not show up in print.
  • DO NOT create your artwork vertically.

Judging: 

Twelve pieces of art will be selected to be featured in the 2026 Calendar. There will not be a limit on the number of students chosen from each school. The calendar will be distributed to the winners, their schools, the county, and the community. 

A committee of judges will select the winning entries. Artwork will be judged on the following criteria: Theme, originality, creativity, neatness, artistic execution, and that the rules were followed.

Recognition and Awards Ceremony:

The winning students will be recognized by the county at a Board of Commissioners meeting in January. The date is still to be determined. 

The winning students will also have an Art Exhibit and Reception in their honor at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center. The date is still to be determined.
