Welcome to the DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs events request page. Whether you're planning a family reunion, festival, sporting event or art show, we’re here to help you navigate the permitting process and ensure your event is safe, successful, and compliant with local ordinances.

How to Request a Special Event 

Any individual, organization, or business seeking to host a public event on county property (parks, streets, community centers, etc.) must complete the following steps:

Step 1: Submit Your Application

Complete the Special Event Request Form at least 30 days prior to the event date.
 

Step 2: Await Review & Approval

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the Special Events Committee. You may be contacted for additional documentation or a pre-event meeting.

📌 Required Documents

Before submitting your request, please prepare the following:

  • Event description and layout/site plan

  • Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming the county as additional insured

  • Security and crowd control plan

  • Traffic control or street closure details (if applicable)

  • Vendor list and food permits (if applicable)
