The Cultural Affairs division is comprised of the Rainbow Park Amphitheater and the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center. This division was established to incorporate the visual and performing arts such as music, art, drama, creative writing, photography, and dance. It is our goal to make culture affairs a key part of our communities through fostering innovative programming, events, and services to increase the diversity of available artistic, cultural and historical offerings. The benefits of both facilities will enrich the quality of life for visitors and the citizens of DeKalb County.


Rainbow Park

The Rainbow Park Amphitheater is a vibrant outdoor facility playing host to some of the biggest touring shows in the state of Georgia. National acts such as Terrence Carson, Jennifer Holiday, Angie Stone, Tony Terry, Karyn White, Malcom- Jamal Warner, Gary Jenkins, and more have performed under the stars to stellar crowds. Nestled in a south DeKalb, the Rainbow Park Amphitheater is like no other venue. With seating for 1,000, patrons can choose seats from the venue's pristine spacious lawn or on the covered deck.

In addition, to national acts, the venue is the summer home to the Thriving Thursday Concert Series. The venue serves DeKalb county but has graciously attracts visitors from across the state and beyond. Hosting a variety of events between the months of April – September, Rainbow Park Amphitheater has drawn 10,000 visitors in 2023.

Built in 2022, The Rainbow Park Amphitheatre was designed by the FORSITE Group, LLC and the Bayne Development Group, LLC. The construction cost for the project was $1.7 million and funds were allocated from the DeKalb Department of Community Development, Commissioner Larry Johnson, Commissioner Lorraine Cochran- Johnson, and the 2001 and 2006 park bond.


The Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center

 The Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center is a state-of-the-art, 500 seat theater in the historic Candler Road district, bringing a diverse range of programming possibilities to Southern DeKalb County.

Our goal is to ensure that your organization has a positive and productive experience with this outstanding municipal facility.  DeKalb has invested more than 17 million dollars to construct the most advanced performing arts theater in the history of our county.  The center is equipped with digital audio and lighting equipment throughout the entire facility and can accommodate a variety of performances including musicals, plays, ballets, weddings, and concerts.

We are based on "community first" activities. It is our commitment to support civic groups, non-profit organization's, individuals, and educational entities in their quest for quality artistic performances. We provide top quality support for each event booked at the center such as technical expertise in lighting & sound, stage design & set-up, meeting room accommodations, ushers, and event planning assistance.
